As part of National Safe Digging Month back in April, CGA worked with Shell and 3M to run the “811 Know What’s Below. Call Before you dig” logo on both the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet and No. 16 3M Ford Fusion during the Talladega race. Additionally, the logo ran on the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet during last year’s race in Homestead, Fla.
Comparing the period from last November to now against the same period a year ago, call811.com saw a 34 percent increase in overall site traffic, demonstrating a sustained positive impact from the promotion.
“RCR is proud to support the ongoing work of Shell and the Common Ground Alliance to help protect America’s underground infrastructure,” said Richard Childress, president and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “We’ve long known the impact motorsports can have in driving awareness for sponsor programs and are glad to see ‘811 Call Before You Dig’ capitalizing on that for the benefit and safety of communities across the country.”
The national “Call Before You Dig” number, 811, was created to help protect people from potential life-threatening situations and against the disruption of service to America’s underground infrastructure. Every digging job requires a call – even small projects like planting trees or shrubs. Calling 811 can help to avoid risking injury to yourself and those around you in addition to potentially causing harm to the environment.
Placing the 811 logo on the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil car will help educate more than 75 million people about the importance of calling before you dig.”
I’m sure you’ve heard the puns spinning around especially Jimmie Johnson now-a-days as I just heard it the other day and had to roll my eyes….. “Alive and Around for Five” or whatever it is they are TRYING to say….ANYWAYS, let’s see if anyone can beat Joey Logano’s “Delana wears the firesuit in the family” pun.
In case you’re not sure, here’s the definition:

[puhn] noun, verb, punned, pun·ning.

–noun

1.

the humorous use of a word or phrase so as to emphasize or suggest its different meanings or applications, or the use of words that are alike or nearly alike in sound but different in meaning; a play on words.

So in conjuction with RCR, Racingal.com is helping to welcome back Call 811 on the No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet. And after all, RCR has had a rough start to the Chase, so they need some TLC.
Racingal.com is offering an autographed Kevin Harvick hat to the one race fan that can come up with the best pun for Kevin Harvick.
Here’s the rules:  Just have fun!  No nasty stuff either. I won’t tolerate it. We’re all adults, well, most of us!

Just e-mail me your pun to Racingal@rocketmail.com, Tweet/Direct Message  your pun via Twitter if you follow me at www.twitter.com/Racingal, or e-mail me through the Racingal.com Facebook Fan Page.
I will announce the winner of what I believe to be the best “pun” entered for Kevin Harvick on Saturday evening, Oct. 16th, right before the drop of the green flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway via Racingal.com, Twitter and Racingal.com Facebook Fan Page.
