I had my initiation this afternoon at Daytona International Speedway and WOW!
I had the opportunity to take a media pace car ride on Daytona International Speedway this afternoon with none other than Brett Bodine.
Being able to go around Daytona International Speedway in a Ford Mustang Official Pace Car, hugging the backstretch wall, going a 130 mph was an incredible experience!! I was also treated to what other media members call a “Brett Bodine Special” - Bodine drives around Daytona International Speedway with ONE hand on the steering wheel, going into the turns!
Going that speed at the 31 degrees of banking in the turns really makes it look as though you are driving up a hill and boy, those G forces…..! Bodine actually brought the Mustang to a crawl in the turn just so I could feel the 31 degree angle. Amazing!
I got out of the car and couldn’t stop smiling! I told Bodine “It might be 104 degrees out here, but I have goosebumps!!!” It was an overwhelming experience I will forever treasure!
Check out the ride:
Ain’t never been in a pace car before @ 130 m.p.h. but I HAVE BEEN in a mini-sprint car @150 m.p.h. w/twenty-seven other guys around me!!!!!!!!!
I used to drive go-karts ‘n graduated to mini-sprints when I was a teenager until it got too costly!!!!!
Also…the highest banked turn I ever felt was @ 22 gradient!!!!!!!!
I always wanted to get back into racing but the funds were never available!!!!!!!!
One can NEVER really KNOW the experience until one FEELS it for themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Believe it or not, this was my first time out on the track. I have always wanted to try the Richard Petty Driving Experience, but just never had time. This opportunity presented itself, and I grabbed it! And I certainly do agree with your statement above…. “One can NEVER really KNOW the experience until one FEELS it for themselves!!”
Thank you for your comment!
I know that you truly enjoyed that! I got to drive my vehicle on Atlanta Motor Speedway…..high speed of 80…..lol
