Who wears the firesuit in your family?

Well, here’s your chance to win the one firesuit actually worn by Smoke himself, not to mention the helmet as well.

Office Depot and Tony Stewart, two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Impala in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, announced a special online charity auction which is accessible via www.OfficeDepotRacing.com.

Now through November 11, 2011 at noon ET, fans can bid on a one-of-a-kind Office Depot Foundation firesuit and helmet worn by Stewart during the July 9, 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series™ race at Kentucky Speedway. Both items were specially designed for the race in the same style as the “back-to-school” paint scheme featured on his No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet at Kentucky.

Now, you have a chance to own that helmet or firesuit, signed by Tony himself.

Proceeds from the auction will be used to support The Office Depot Foundation’s award-winning National Backpack Program, which provides new sackpacks to schools and non-profit organizations that work with children in need across the country.

The Tony Stewart Foundation will support the auction by utilizing its eBay Giving Works account as the bidding platform. To reach the eBay page for the Office Depot Foundation firesuit and helmet auction, visit www.OfficeDepotRacing.com.

Kangaroo Express and Coca-Cola Fundraiser to help Victory Junction

Race fans can participate in a fundraiser for Victory Junction Gang by visiting  over 700 Kangaroo Express in N.C., S.C., or VA by donating a $1! In return, you will receive a $0.50 discount coupon on any on 20- or 24-ounce Coca-Cola product. The entirety of the $1 donation goes directly to Victory Junction Gang.

This is the third consecutive year that Kangaroo Express and Coca-Cola have partnered to send kids to Victory Junction. In the first week, the drive flew past the $50,000 mark to sponsor kids for a week at camp…surpassing the amount raised last year.

It currently costs $2500 to send a camper to Victory Junction Gang Camp for a week.  All funds raised during this campaign will enable Kangaroo Express and Coca-Cola to sponsor children during two weeks of summer camp.

As many of you know, Victory Junction was the dream of Adam Petty, Richard Petty’s grandson and son of Kyle Petty. Adam’s promising career was tragically cut short by a crash in 2000. That’s when Adam’s parents (Kyle and Pattie Petty) devoted themselves to bring his greatest dream to life, a camp for kids with serious medical conditions, Victory Junction. Victory Junction gives kids who have lived their life on the sidelines the chance to revel in 84 acres of NASCAR-themed kid heaven – complete with indoor baseball, a zip line, bowling and a climate-controlled water park. Victory Junction relies solely on contributions and donations from individuals and corporations so that campers do not have to pay ANYTHING to attend camp.

On May 29, Kangaroo Express will present a check to Victory Junction at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

You can make your donation by visiting Kangaroo Express in one of the tree participating states, through May 6.

Recycle for Victory, a wireless-recycling program that benefits Victory Junction, helps protect the environment by reducing the number of used, wireless phones that end up in landfills.

Fans who visit the Sprint Experience, Sprint’s mobile marketing display in the midway at every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, can pick up a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope to recycle their used wireless phones, batteries and accessories, from any carrier and in any condition.

I won’t spoil it for you, but if you DO want to know, click on the link below.

The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream

Indy 500 winner, Dario Franchitti, earned open invitation to race the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream from Tony Stewart

As I had blogged earlier, Tony Stewart had an open invitation to the winner of the Indianapolis 500 to race in the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream on June 9th at Eldora Speedway.  Now that Dario Franchitti has won the Indianapolis 500 this past Sunday, there is a car and a crew waiting for him at Eldora Speedway – that is, if he wants to run.
THE RECAP (incase you missed it earlier)
The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream is an all-star race featuring more than 25 world renowned drivers as they battle for dirt supremacy while piloting a 2,300-pound dirt Late Model stock cars capable of putting out more than 800 horsepower on Eldora’s half-mile clay oval with proceeds from the telecast supporting four of the nation’s top children’s hospitals:

·  Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis
·  Cincinnati Children’s
·  Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, N.C.
·  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
The sixth annual event will be headlined by the Gillette Young Guns: Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Joey Logano. All will join two-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart and many others, including fellow Sprint Cup champions Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Bobby Labonte and Bill Elliott
And don’t forget that this year’s Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream is a team event. Franchitti has his choice of which team he would like to join.  There will still be an individual race winner, but there will now be a race within the race, with the field broken up into four teams, each representing a children’s hospital:

·      Team Riley: Bowyer (captain), Ryan Newman, J. Gordon, A.J. Allmendinger, Kenny Wallace and Ron Capps.

·      Team Cincinnati: Kahne (captain), Logano, Stewart, Labonte, Elliott and Cruz Pedregon.

·      Team Levine: Busch (captain), Johnson, Kenseth, David Reutimann, Dave Blaney, Marcos Ambrose and Pastrana.

·      Team St. Jude: Hamlin (captain), Edwards, Robby Gordon, Ken Schrader, Aric Almirola, Ricky Carmichael and Ray Evernham.

Each hospital will receive a donation, with the payout breakdown as follows:

·      Winning team receives 45 percent of net money raised.

·      Second-place team receives 25 percent of net money raised.

·      Third- and fourth-place teams each receive 15 percent of net money raised.

The lowest team score wins, and only the top-five drivers from each team will be scored. For example, if Team Riley has finishes of first, fourth, seventh, 11th and 18th, respectively, from its top-five drivers, its score will be 41. In the event of a tie, the sixth driver will be scored.

Drivers from all types of disciplines, some with lots of dirt track experience and others with hardly any, will participate in hot laps, qualifying, heat races and a 30-lap feature, all of which will be televised live on HBO Pay-Per-View June 9th at 7 p.m. EDT (4 p.m. PDT) with an immediate replay. HBO Pay-Per-View’s racing telecast has a suggested retail price of $24.95.
