REMINDER:  Phoenix International Raceway announced that NASCAR has moved Gatorade Pole Qualifying for the semi-final race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup to Friday, Nov. 9 at 4:10 p.m. Gates open to the public Friday at 9 a.m. A full day of activity on the track will be highlighted by Gatorade Pole Qualifying and the running of the Lucas Oil 150 Camping World Truck Series race at 6 p.m.

Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge this evening at CMS

We’ll see if defending Burnout Champion Kasey Kahne can keep his title this evening at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Pennzoil Burnout Challenge consists of a 30-sec freestyle burnout session and must impress three celebrity judges. The judges participating are “Survivor One World” (season 24) winner Kim Spradlin; Actor Colby Donaldson, 3x “Survivor” competitor & host of the History Channel’s “Top Shots;” and Miss Sprint Cup.

The Pennzoil Victory Burnout Challenge takes place this evening at approximately 6:20 pm on the speedway’s frontstretch and is free to all NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race ticket holders.

All competitors will use identical stock cars from Richard Petty Driving Experience, and the winner will earn $10,000 for their favorite charity.

Saturday night’s all-star race consists of a unique – and lucrative – format. The race will be run in five segments. The first four segments will be 20 laps each. The fifth and final segment will be a 10-lap dash to the finish, where only green flag laps count. The winners of the first four segments will move to the front of the field and line up in positions 1-4 prior to the field coming to pit road for the final mandatory pit stop prior to Segment 5 (if there is a repeat segment winner, the second-place finisher will start in his place). The winner gets a $1 million payout, and likely more.

Those fans in attendance get an extra treat – a pre-race concert by one of the biggest names in country music, Blake Shelton. Shelton, a three-time GRAMMY nominee and CMA’s reigning Male Vocalist of the Year, will perform prior to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race in the infield between Turns 1 and 2. Admission to the show is free with the purchase of a ticket to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Wednesday, May 23, 6 p.m., NASCAR Hall of Fame – The fourth annual NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Day is set for next Wednesday, May 23. Following voting procedures, NASCAR will announce the five inductees who will make up the 2013 NASCAR Hall of Fame class. The NASCAR Hall of Fame Voting Panel, consisting of members of the Nominating Committee and others representing NASCAR, the NASCAR Hall of Fame, major race track ownership groups, retired drivers, owners and crew chiefs along with motorsports media representatives, will meet in a closed session to deliberate and vote on the 25 candidates eligible for this fourth class.

The Memorial Day Weekend festivities kick off the at-track activation of “NASCAR Unites – An American Salute,” a patriotic initiative uniting the NASCAR industry and fans to celebrate America and support U.S. military families. The initiative, which launched at the White House on April 9, will run through the next six weeks, continuing until the Independence Day race weekend at Daytona International Speedway. TWO LOCAL CONNECTIONS – ONE TEAM

Hamlin, who nabbed his 19th career win last week, looks to become the fourth Virginia native to record 20 or more NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories, joining Joe Weatherly (25), Ricky Rudd (23) and Jeff Burton (21). A second “local” connection for the No. 11 team is crew chief Darian Grubb. Grub, who is from Floyd, Va. and earned an engineering degree from Virginia Tech.

SHHH…. ZZzzz RICHMOND TO WAKE UP KYLE BUSCH? ZZzzz

It’s been kind of a quiet season so far for Kyle Busch. But this weekend at Richmond may be just what’s need for Kyle to jump start his season. Kyle Busch goes into Richmond with three spring wins. Busch ranks 13th in the standings 31 points out of the top 10. Busch’s last victory came last August at Michigan International Speedway, 20 starts ago.

IT’S PASTRANA TIME!!!

The time has finally arrived for Travis Pastrana to make his racing debut. Originally scheduled to make his first start last July at O’Reilly Raceway Park, Pastrana’s bid was put on hold due to injuries suffered in an X-Games stunt the night before. Now after injury rehab, plenty of testing and a couple of runs in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East – including Thursday night’s Blue Ox 100 – Pastrana is finally set for his big-stage NASCAR moment Friday night at Richmond. Almost a year to the day (April 28, 2011) after making his K&N East debut at Richmond, Pastrana is set to embark on a NNS schedule that encompass at least seven races in 2012. Pastrana will compete in the NNS for RAB Racing as that team and Michael Waltrip Racing last week announced an alliance between the organizations that will feature RAB equipment and MWR technical and marketing support. The No. 09 Toyota now becomes the No. 99.

COCA-COLA FAMILY TRACK WALK

The Coca-Cola Family Track Walk begins at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 (near Gate 70, outside of Turn 4), just a few hours before the green flag drops on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400. Fans can get moving alongside Coca-Cola Racing Family members and Virginia natives Denny Hamlin and Jeff Burton. The free event is open to all Saturday, April 28 race ticket holders. Ticket holders who wish to participate must show their ticket at Gate 70.

NASCAR DRIVERS AUTOGRAPH SESSION

All fans who have tickets for the Saturday, April 28, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series 400 race at Richmond International Raceway are invited to attend a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver autograph session featuring Clint Bowyer, Juan Pablo Montoya, Jamie McMurray and David Ragan.

The autograph session takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the Amphitheatre, located next to the Commonwealth Mall. Fans may line up at the Commonwealth Mall entrance to the Amphitheater. The first 200 guests in line with race tickets will receive a wristband that will enable them to attend the autograph session.

Each of the 200 fans may receive one autograph from each of the four drivers. Driver participation is subject to change and without notice.

World of Outlaws Late Model Series Driver Autograph Session – 5 p.m.

The world’s best late model drivers will be in the spotlight as “The Greatest Show on Dirt” returns to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown Wednesday night. Before the racing action gets underway drivers will participate in an autograph session at 5 p.m. on the main concourse. Among the more than 40 drivers expected to participate include Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards, Rick Eckert, Shane Clanton, Clint Smith, Chub Frank and Tim McCreadie. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps start at 6 p.m. and opening ceremonies begin at 7:20 p.m. The World of Outlaws Late Model Showdown is scheduled to start at 9:10 p.m.

OktoberFast Sprint Cup Driver Autograph Session – Noon with Gordon, Newman, Kyle Busch

The biggest names in NASCAR will be on hand during Bank of America 500 Week and fans will have a chance to get autographs from some of their favorite NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers. The OktoberFast Fan Festival presented by Budweiser features a Cup driver autograph session at noon on Thursday, Oct. 13, with Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman, Jamie McMurray, Juan Pablo Montoya, A.J. Allmendinger, Casey Mears, Robby Gordon and Joe Nemechek in the OktoberFast Tent. The purchase of an OktoberFast pass is required for entry into the session.

 

Modified Driver Autograph Session – 7:30 p.m.

On Bojangles’ Pole Night on Thursday night, Oct. 13, fans can meet the stars of the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour during an autograph session at 7:30 p.m. on the frontstretch concourse near Gate 5A before they race in the UNOH Southern Slam 150 at 9:10 p.m. All drivers participating in the race, including Whelen Southern Modified Tour stars George Brunnhoelzl III, Burt Myers and Andy Seuss, will greet fans during the autograph session.

 

Fans Can Participate in Bojangles’ Pole Night at 7:10 p.m.

On Thursday night, Oct. 13, Charlotte Motor Speedway officials will randomly select fans in attendance at Bojangles’ Pole Night to wave the green flag during NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying for the Bank of America 500 Saturday. Qualifying is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

Nationwide Series Stars Autograph Session – 1 p.m.

Fans will get their chance to meet tomorrow’s stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Friday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. during the NASCAR Nationwide Series Driver Autograph Session. Drivers will be located on pit road to the right of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. Fans with a Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage ticket can get a free wristband at the Turn 4 tunnel for the autograph session, which is limited to the first 200 fans. Confirmed drivers for the session include Justin Allgaier, Jeremy Clements, Timmy Hill, Blake Koch, Charles Lewandoski, Robert Richardson, Casey Roderick and Morgan Shepherd.

Earnhardt Ganassi Racing “HIDE AND TWEET”

Cut-outs of Jamie McMurray, driver of the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet, and Juan Pablo Montoya, driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet, will visit various locations around the Charlotte Metro area throughout the Bank of America 500 race week, giving fans the opportunity to guess where they will show up.

 

Beginning on Monday, Oct. 10, the team will kick-off the new “Hide and Tweet” contest across their social media platforms. Each day during race week, two photographs will be released on Facebook and promoted on Twitter, and fans will have the opportunity to guess which local landmark the drivers are visiting. Fans will be allowed to submit their answers on the team’s Facebook page and the first person to guess where they were will win driver merchandise compliments of the race team.

 

The contest will run twice per day through the Saturday, Oct. 15 Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Speedway Children’s Charities Track Walk at 10 a.m.

Fans will have the opportunity to see Charlotte Motor Speedway like never before on Saturday at 10 a.m. before the Bank of America 500 during Speedway Children’s Charities annual Track Walk. Donations for participating in the Track Walk can be made online for $25 in advance or $35 at Charlotte Motor Speedway during race week, Oct. 12-15. Online registration is available at www.charlotte.speedwaycharities.org. Money raised will help fund grants that continue work in supporting local children in need.

 

Women of NASCAR Race in the Better Half Dash – 2:30 p.m.

The guys will step aside when the ladies put on the firesuits for the inaugural Better Half Dash, a 25-lap Bandolero race at 2:30 p.m. on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s frontstretch quarter mile oval as a part of the Bank of America 500 pre-race activities on Oct. 15. Participants include Angie Skinner, wife of 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Mike Skinner and SPEED television personality Wendy Venturini. The charity race will support Motor Racing Outreach (MRO) and Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC). Fans can donate $10 to MRO and SCC by texting “MOTOR” to 20222 through Oct. 15.

 

Hall of Famers to Participate in “PRN Up To SPEED” –  4 p.m.

“PRN Up To SPEED,” the popular free fan Q-and-A session with NASCAR personalities, will take place at the SPEED stage, located at the speedway’s main entrance, from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m., prior to the Bank of America 500 on Saturday, Oct. 15. 2012 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductees Dale Inman, Darrell Waltrip, Glen Wood and Cale Yarborough are expected to join personalities from the Performance Racing Network for the session.

 

Pre-Race Concert by Country Superstar Sara Evans – 5:30 p.m.

Multi-platinum recording artist and country music superstar Sara Evans will perform a pre-race concert for the Bank of America 500, Oct. 15, at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The concert will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the speedway’s frontstretch. Admission to the concert is free with the purchase of a ticket to the Bank of America 500.

Well, well, well…. WELCOME TO KENTUCKY!!!

There’s yet to be racing history made at this 1.5 mile tri-oval speedway in Sparta, Kentucky as this is the long-awaited and much-anticipated debut of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup series takes place at Kentucky Speedway this Saturday night in the Quaker State 400. The NASCAR Nationwide Series has been visiting here since 2001 and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, since 2000.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will run Thursday night, in the UNOH 225. The NASCAR Nationwide Series will run Friday night, in the Feed The Children 300.

Harvick’s seventh-place finish, combined with Carl Edwards’ 37th place run at Daytona, gave Harvick the points lead for the first time since last September after Atlanta, heading into Kentucky.

There are no stats to post for Kentucky Speedway but according to the Nationwide series stats, the driver to watch out for is Joey Logano. He has won three consecutive NASCAR Nationwide Series races at Kentucky, all from the pole – the first driver in series history to do that.

Notice was posted by Kentucky Speedway that all 107, 000 grandstand seats and campground areas are sold out. Fans can still take advantage of the speedway’s Pit Road Club that offers an infield view of the race action from behind pit road wall or $60 standing room only tickets that will provide access to the Turn 1 and Turn 4 concourses. Fans still seeking race week campsites can visit http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com and click “Camping” for a listing of campgrounds offering last minute options within walking distance of the speedway and in the surrounding area.

HAULER PARADE

Race week festivities begin Wednesday, July 6, when NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team haulers visit Cincinnati, Ohio, Lexington, Ky., and Louisville, Ky.

Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) haulers will visit Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville from 11:30 a.m., to 1:00 p.m.; Cincinnati fans can meet Mayor Mark Mallory while viewing Joe Gibbs Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing team haulers at the corner of Fifth St., and Race St., near the Millennium Hotel from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and Lexington, Ky., will play host to 35 to 40 haulers at Hamburg Place at 2350 Grey Lag Way from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., before they depart on a 12-mile parade that will traverse the city by way of Sir Barton Way, Winchester Rd., Midland Ave., E. Main St., and Newtown Pike.

Busy week leading up to NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte

What’s new for this year’s All-Star race? NOTHING! But don’t forget the special qualifying procedures for  the All-Star Race. Procedures below:

· Qualifying consists of three laps, including a pit stop for four new tires.

· The pit road speed limit will be in effect when cars enter pit road but will not be in effect when cars exit.

· All cars must qualify with the fuel cell full of fuel.

· Total elapsed time of the 3-lap qualifying run will determine starting positions for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.

Dierks Bentley will be performing the pre-race concert prior to the All-Star race on May 21, as well as several autograph sessions taking place at the CMS ticket office during the event.

ARCA Racing Series Autograph Session

The drivers from the 3 Amigos 250 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will be having an autograph session on Friday, April 15 in the ARCA Series garage from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Drivers from the series will be available for autographs at their haulers during this time.

The garage will be open for all infield campers and any race fan with a Friday infield admission. Drinks will be permitted in the garage area, but no glass containers or coolers will be allowed. Race fans of all ages are welcome to attend.

Trams will transport guests from designated pick-up point on the infield road course and take them to the entrance of the ARCA garage. The same trams will return guest at the conclusion of the walkthrough.

NASCAR Nationwide Series Autograph Session

The NASCAR Nationwide Series Autograph Session will be on Friday, April 15th from 2:00 – 3:00 pm in the concourse area behind O.V. Hill South Grandstand, Sections D & E.

Fans will need to have a Friday General Admission grandstand ticket to attend the autograph session.

Pick up your wristbands before the session at the main Guest Services Office located at O.V. Hill South Grandstand, Section L. Guests that do not have wristbands can still wait in line but are not guaranteed autographs due to time constraints.

Christmas at Bristol, Las Vegas, and Charlotte Motorspeedways

Guests can watch Symphony of Lights from a designated viewing area inside the BMS infield, the perfect place to see the amazing dancing lights.

Proceeds from AutoTrader.com Speedway In Lights benefit the Bristol Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for children’s agencies in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Tickets for Speedway In Lights, open nightly 6-10 p.m., Nov. 19-Jan. 8, will be available at the BMS gate. Ticket prices for cars are $10 Sunday through Thursday, and $12 Friday and Saturday. Activity van tickets are $15 each night and bus tickets are $65 each night.


LAS VEGAS MOTORSPEEDWAY

The Gift of Lights has moved to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Sunset Park hosted the event for the past nine years, but organizers decided to move the event to the speedway for the 2010 holiday season.

The move to the speedway will allow for the largest Gift of Lights in the event’s 10-year history. All displays will be in LED lighting, which will provide the most brilliant light display ever for this event. Patrons may tune in to the Gift of Lights’ music as they tour the exhibit at 101.5 FM.

The experience will opened Friday, Nov. 19 and will run nightly through Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011. The Gift of Lights will open at 6 p.m. each night and run until 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday-Sunday.

Admission is $15, but any car bringing a donation to Goodwill will receive $2 off the admission price. Various youth organizations will be on hand selling hot chocolate and warm apple cider and their proceeds will help fund programs for their organizations.
