UPDATED: Race fans can join Kangaroo, Coca-Cola fundraising for Victory Junction

The Pantry, Inc., the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States, is partnering with Coca-Cola for a fourth consecutive year to send children to Victory Junction, a year-round camping environment for children ages six to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

Victory Junction was founded in 2004 by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their late son Adam. The camp relies solely on donations from individuals and corporations like Kangaroo Express to give children a once in a lifetime camping experience. It costs $2,500 to send one child to camp for a week at no cost to his or her family.

To rally fans behind the cause, Richard and Kyle Petty will meet with fans and sign autographs at Kangaroo Express stores in North Carolina.

In addition to donating $1 at the register, for every Mars candy sold through April 30, 2012, $0.10 will help support Victory Junction. All funds raised during this campaign will enable Kangaroo Express to sponsor children during two weeks of summer camp.

Kangaroo Express stores in Charleston, S.C. first began raising funds for Victory Junction in 2009 and have since expanded to three states. Support for credit card donations started in 2011, which helped to more than triple the total donations from the previous year.

The five-week fundraiser launched March 1 in more than 700 Kangaroo Express convenience stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Kangaroo Express, Coca-Cola & fans raised $634,000 for Victory Junction

In its third annual fundraiser for Victory Junction camp, Kangaroo Express presented a $634,000 donation to Victory Junction prior to the start of the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday. The donation, raised through an in-store promotion with partnership support from Coca-Cola, will send more than 250 children to Victory Junction, a year-round camping environment for children ages six to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.

Victory Junction, located in Randleman, N.C., was founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam and has welcomed 13,000 children and families since opening in 2004.

The cost of sending a child for one week to Victory Junction is $2,500, but no family incurs this expense due to support from corporate donors and volunteers.

With Sprint’s environmental efforts being evident at NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events,  Miss Sprint Cup Kim Coon and Paige Duke (left to right) trade in their traditional black and white uniforms for a new green uniform design for this past weekend’s Samsung Mobile 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth Texas and again on April 17 at the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Recycle for Victory, a wireless-recycling program that benefits Victory Junction, helps protect the environment by reducing the number of used, wireless phones that end up in landfills.

Fans who visit the Sprint Experience, Sprint’s mobile marketing display in the midway at every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event, can pick up a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope to recycle their used wireless phones, batteries and accessories, from any carrier and in any condition.

Victory Junction announces open house; dedication of Dale Jr’s Corral & Ampitheater

Victory Junction announced that it will feature a public open house in conjunction with Randleman’s NASCAR Days on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 10:00 am 4:00 pm.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 2:30pm honoring the grand opening of Dale Jr.’s Corral and Amphitheatre, with special guests Dale Earnhardt Jr. and members of the Earnhardt and Petty families.
Dale Jr.’s Corral and Amphitheatre was generously donated by Earnhardt Jr. and will be used as both a fun, interactive activity center for campers, and a venue for local concerts and camp fundraisers. The amphitheatre is western-themed in true Dale Jr. fashion and consists of a mock jail, general store, bank and outhouse. While the venue features playful and colorful buildings, the amphitheatre’s design is fashioned after the mock western town located on Dale Jr.’s property in Mooresville, N.C. The ceremony will be followed by a live performance by the Kevin Lee Band.
